Oh, those were just the ones they admitted to....
Lets be honest now, for just a minute. There really is no defense for M$ with these gaping holes. Would you buy a bucket to hold water knowing later that there could be leaks? I think not.

When we purchase products, and the argument that software is different is bogus, we expect them to perform as stated. We do not expect that opening a spreadsheet can destroy our lives or we wouldn't have bought it in the first place would we?

Fact of the matter is there are companies that make good secure software, whether it be OS's of Office productivity, there are secure and stable software programs out there. I don't remember the last time Wordperfect announced a major security hole, nor do I know another company besides M$ that releases "patches" on a monthly basis, has there been a Tuedsay yet that M$ said "all is well and good" ?
For those of you that can't see whats happening you must be blind, deaf, and dumb. With IE 7 so completely tied to the kernel in Vista and apparently Office headed the same way Windows will soon resemble several varieties of cheese with holes strapped together with "the consumer" in mind.
Anyone in IT knows that other than Antivirus most people do not "update" office, and rarely update XP. Most people use windows like they do cars, they have a basic understanding of how it works but have no interest in going any deeper than that. Sure you have to change the oil in your car, put gas in it, and every now and then check the tires, thats how people treat Windows. They don't expect an avalance of hole patching or weekly updating, they just want it to work without compromising themselves and thats really not too much to ask.
So M$ beat the exploits to the punch, this time. What about the holes they know about but haven't fixed or can't fix? It now looks like win98 and winME now have fatal flaws that can't and won't be fixed, they just admitted this, so what are we not being told about XP or Vista?
Sitting down and using your computer shouldn't be a security crap shoot but thats how its turning out if you're a M$ junkie. You just keep trusting them and see where it gets you.
Now I would expect this vulnerablity with a beta or a release candidate, I do not expect it from a $200 OS or a $500 office suite.

Face facts, if I'm spending more for the software than the hardware when putting together a PC, I don't cut the hardware any slack for performance so why should I make an exception for the software when its now the majority of the money coming outta my pocket>?
If M$ and its products are acceptable to you then the old saying goes:
If you settle for less than you deserve then you deserve what you settled for.
