It really hit the innocents
Picture this: thousands of non-technical users in machine embroidery groups on Yahoo - people who frequently buy graphics and digitize them for use with their machines or to sell to others - who are introduced to new graphic sites through ads in the groups frequently. This population is mostly older women who really are innocent victims. One group has about 11 thousand members and this virus really caused havoc. Yahoo is full of baloney - it affected thousands of customers just in these groups alone, many of whom had no idea what was going on or how to fix it. And since many belong to 10 or more groups on this topic it went around and around. Would your grandmother know what to do if she simply opened an infected email?

Yahoo could have helped by posting information directly to the groups or at least through the Yahoo alerts group but there has been nothing. And the AV software didn't know about this at first so even if the computer were up-to-date some folks got infected. What a mess.
