Re: Spam Increase
It was truly a sad day when I uninstalled my Blue Frog as it felt like the Cyber Criminal in Russia won the war. When I installed Blue Frog my Spam level was about 100 messages per day. During the war and the gloating blitz of Spam from this child of a female dog my Spam level grew to more than 350 messages per day. Most of them were from him using my email addresses as the return and sender of the forged header. I commented that I think this spammer will tire of the game and Spam levels will drop back down and even surmised that he might take the hint that his junk is not getting read on these addresses anyway so why bother sending the crap to us in the first place. We voiced our opinion and he cleaned a list to create the list he attacked.

A very interesting thing occurred last week I actually had about 5 days completely spam free! Then in the past 2 days I saw it jump back to about 65 messages per day. This is a reduction from when I first joined the Blue Frog do not intrude list. I know that the Frog did its job and I cannot wait until Black Frog finishes incubating. What I'd really like to see is a stand alone application not dependant of a global list to analyze the messages and send an opt-out to the offending site and ping the IP of the source of the message and the offending site. These sites are stealth hosted on the botnet. Why not hit botnets directly to make them perform so slow that in effect will kill the flow of junk coming out of them by bringing the performance of the internet down to a crawl for the infected machines. Another possibility would be to auto send a complaint to the ISP in the language they speak. This in effect would make the infected networks and pc owners clean up their mess. I'm sure this is a possibility if someone wants to go after it.

Meanwhile I'm going to rely upon my tried and proven Spam filtering that does not cost a penny to subscribe to. I use K9 by keir.net to tag the messages and coupled with the Outlook spam filtering 99% of all the junk gets filtered into the trash can where it belongs.
