While the FCC is very much behind broadband and does "champion" it's cause, they are also the rule making body of the Federal Government and as such they have proposed a change in the rules for part 15 devices to accomodate BPL. As I earlier stated, this rule change is still in the public comment phase. I backed up what I had to say. If you doubt it, here's the FCC link.

As a HAM radio operator, I am quite familiar with the FCC NPRM process as I have witnessed it and participated in it several times. It's definitely not a done deal yet. Any deployment currently being conducted is strictly on a trial basis.
Once again, I'll ask you to provide a link to "your company" showing the line speeds and cost for BPL to any home.
We agree on the wireless solution though. It's being deployed in my community and it's very successful. It's not getting to the remote rural areas though, for the same reasons as any other broadband, diminishing returns for the area served. Too bad. I think BPL will wind up being the same, economically and won't reach the rural areas either. - Posted by: Jose Jimenez Posted on: 03/12/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
