Just because our government is capable of taking care of only
itself and not its citizens, does not mean it's stealing
information to sell on some black market.

Don't blame some employee who was likely ordered to do just
what he did prior to the hardware being lost. It's a careless
bunch of managers who let personal information out the door
unencrypted, and the responsibility lies with them.

And to respond to a comment about not doing business online,
this had nothing to do with online transactions. This was student
loan information, and could have applied to anyone who in fact
borrowed money for college. At least online transactions are
encrypted, but either way it's how it ends up at the corporate
end (as well as on your own PC) that'll affect how vulnerable your
information is to theft.

Word, yo.
