Hmm.. I think you might be on to something...

But a simple "return to sender, refused" item is not going to work. Just as clicking on a "unsubscribe" link in a spammed e-mail is a bad thing (it validates your e-mail address as being a valid destination), returning it with a "refused" stamp will likely do the same thing.

BUT... On the other hand, if there were a piece of software that could create an e-mail that "bounces" the e-mail back to the spammer as it would if it were sent to a bad e-mail address, then we might have something...

Unfortunately, just as easily as it would be to forge an e-mail bounce and send it to the source, it would be even easier to spoof an e-mail address from someone and put it in the FROM and REPLY TO fields in the e-mail.

Ah well.. It was a thought.
