About time

Although there are some potential problems with this, in my own experience at tracing hack attempts at my own web site, I seriously doubt that the hijacked systems owners will respond. Most of the machines that I see turning up in the web logs and while doing field service work belong to people who don't even understand the whole process. These are usually home users with broadband, no firewall, often no user passwords, in other words, wide open to the world. A ddos attack would look like a system crash to them, and they would either reboot or call a tech. In any case, the robot would be shut down, at least for a while.
Of course, if everyone used Linux/Solaris, we wouldn't have nearly as many of these problems. All the systems I find are either Win2k or XP.
