Reality is defined
by the thngs that are currently in effect. Statements of the form ``if (not X) then Y'' have no real significance.

It is true that, if there were NO bad people in the world nobody would need a lock on their doors/windows. The door/window vendors then SHOULD NOT care selling them with adequate locks. However, there are PLENTY of bad people and people who manufacture doors/windows and furnish locks with them either they make the locks sufficiently good or CLEARLY state that one has to go SOMEWHER else to get locks.

MS is selling doors and windows with locks that can be easily compromised and has failed to make it abudantly clear that one needs a number of additional mechanisms to safeguard the system. Worse yet it claims that its 'trustworthy computing' is in full swing and it has been priority one in the last 3 years.

The fact that simple worms and viri can still wreak massive havoc on its systems shows that, either they don't care to fullfil their promise, ot that they dont't know how do this successfully. I personally believe both reasons are in effect.

You may say that look at how many patches thet are releaseing. First, a patch is supposed to adequately address a problem and NOT create new ones. Unfortunately, MS is releasins patches for the same IE and Outlook problens over and over and its patches ususally break other things.

If you want to be helpful just try to justify to me the inability of MS to address real problems that their expensive platform suffers from.
