As long as: the Internet is not overfloaded by the counterattacks and they can identify the true source, then I think they can feel free to do whatever they want against the attackers.

At the same time, if it werent for these 'malevolent' individual to expose the numerous security problems, MS would NEVER have done anything sufficient to address them.
