- What is the problem with making money?

Advertisering-based revenue is great for certain products, but imagine your windows desktop covered in advertisement? What to browse your work-folder? Oh look, I can also buy Viagra. Wow, that would get annoying fast.
I'm tired of the idea of advertising-based systems. They are great for something like a Google search engine, but I'd rather just pay once and use my product.
I say they should just give updates to registered users. Your product is tied to your Passport account, which your system registers with in order to get updates. Its not draconian, its business.
By agreeing to this, you're agreeing to all kinds of embedded marketing schemes. Imagine watching American Idol while Coke advertisements are on the right side and Walmart is scrolling across the bottom. Maybe we could go to free movies in theatres where the same thing is happening? Maybe we could go to free plays where people in black suites run across the stage with glowing Pheonix Online advertisements? Maybe we could get free toilet paper with advertisements? Do we use that square of TP or turn it in for 50 cents off hand soap? Oh, the decisions! We'd be sitting in there, legs numb, reading through the roll.
If Toyota wants to give me a free Tacoma, they can put whatever advertisement they want on the side. - Posted by: agramont@... Posted on: 05/22/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
