'The Credit'

I heard there is some service that generates on-the-fly credit card numbers (that look to merchants like normal credit cards) so that they can be collected once.

I was never able to find this service or get even something close. This is so simple - the user does not even need to use copy&paste since the credit card can provide a browser add-in that will take care of everything.

I am sure many people have thought about this, what I don't understand is why my credit card company does not offer this service to me.

I must be missing some huge glaring hole...
