Chaos at MCI
I work as a front line DSL rep for MCI and they are quietly
acknolwledging the fact that for them DSL is a losing
proposition. The push was on last year to add DSL subscribers.
Poor training for telemarketers resulted in many customers who
were promised a service for which their computer did not
support (according to MCI) or were outside the local perimeter.
Provisioning errors on the part of MCI and ILECS resulted in
many more unfinished installations. In addition internal
programming errors resulted in many orders not competing in
the system. MCI is now not offering residential DSL service as
the cost for MCI is too great. I do not look for the company to
survive and selling the assets will be the only resort left.
