MCI - The real failure
I am an executive for a midsized ($3 billion in US sales) global company that uses MCI for our voice and data needs in the US.
They have made our bills a nightmanre
Out of our $70K-$100K monthly bills, over half of the randomly spot-checked phone calls were improperly billed.
Credits to our account were missing or incorrect. We cut a check for $60K, and $10K is credited to our account. None of the amounts match.

When we protested, they were no help.

We are now withholding our payments until they clear up the mess. The total disputed amounts are now approaching $300K.

Forget new services and technologies. Get your basic accounts payable and receivable straightend out. Until we get a bill that we can understand, and we find that we are not being overcharged, we will still be very unhappy campers.
