Symantec - keep dreaming
I've used Norton for several years, for antivirus mostly because it has less compatability problems than the other common name Mcafee. But tops in its field, its CEO must be on crack. Norton is slow to scan, inflexible, its tools to check for registry problems, will cause more problems than they solve. The only reason I use it on one of my computers is I got it free and I can get updates for it for free or little cost after rebates. I use the free version of AVG on another computer for virus protection is just as good and much faster at scanning. Advanced System Optimizer is a much safer, more complete set of tools to check for registry problems and other issues. I've never had to re-install my system after using it, unlike a few instances with Norton.
I don't think that Microsoft will do much better, being another bloated bureaucratic corporation, but it'd be hard for them to do much worse.
