I hope Symantec goes under...
"I have been using Symnatec products for close to 10 yrs now and have never had any real problem unless the products life cycle ended and support no longer available. Upgrading has never been an issue."

Obviously because of the auto-update.

"I hear all the time how buggy, slow, crappy Symantec is. How you need a 512mb RAM just to use it. Seems to me that the ones complaining are people who did not configure it properly. IT DOES WORK!"

It works, but it's slow. You can't even refute that it add's alot of load time to a computer initially to load the definitions and memory resident applications. (Firewall, Spyware, Email, Virus).

"I am running NIS 2006 on a 5 year old Dell with XP sp2 and 256 mb RAM and while it loads slowly it still works as advertised and more."

That's the first problem.. It shouldn't run slow on startup, and McAffee is joining them in the slow startup race.

"I have run spyware infections, virus infections against it and it found and blocked every infection every time. Port stealthing works so well that I have yet to see an intrusion alert to say I'm being probed or scanned and I test this often."

You've obviously haven't re-installed it recently. happy But then again, that's a configuration thing. Same goes with when you load the app when it's in the tray. It's slow to load before you can use it.

It's a bloated piece of software.. Does it run? Sure. Is it effective? Sure. Is it fast? Hell no.

I'm sorry but I had Norton on my computer for about 1 day before I had enough of it. I got rid of everything it scanned for that wasnt' required. SLOOWWWWW... even on my computer. This is why I use Avast. It does exactly what it's supposed to do and doesn't take 20 years load.

"Symantec does make good products the only problem I can see here is the the user who isn't savvy enough to use it."

You must be the only person on this earth who've I've actually heard say Norton's isn't that slow and it's a configuration issue. :P That either tells me you aren't telling the truth, or you don't notice a difference because your computer is slow to begin with.
