Symantec is better than anything MS can make.
I have been using Symnatec products for close to 10 yrs now and have never had any real problem unless the products life cycle ended and support no longer available. Upgrading has never been an issue.

I hear all the time how buggy, slow, crappy Symantec is. How you need a 512mb RAM just to use it. Seems to me that the ones complaining are people who did not configure it properly. IT DOES WORK!

I am running NIS 2006 on a 5 year old Dell with XP sp2 and 256 mb RAM and while it loads slowly it still works as advertised and more. I have run spyware infections, virus infections against it and it found and blocked every infection every time. Port stealthing works so well that I have yet to see an intrusion alert to say I'm being probed or scanned and I test this often.

Symantec does make good products the only problem I can see here is the the user who isn't savvy enough to use it.
