Analysts wrong
just like the XP firewall, users should employ a full, rich feature application or device to fulfill the partial role a MS application/service provides. It's better than nothing, as Win 2K users should be able to attest when running a mixed environment with XP, but these tools don't often offer the indepth GUI, feature set, and subscription based model of improvements.

The next analyst will come out saying that a user shouldn't rely solely if at all on said MS tools. The market will market to said reports and continue to gather users as usual, or maybe people will just buy a Mac, or go out on a limb and buy Solaris.
