What you wrote is mostly true, but you neglect WHY it is that
way, and it is CRITICAL to these discussions.
Microsoft does provide the admin as root user -- and should
not.
They did do it mostly because of backward-compatibility, but it
is such an important issue they should have changed many
many years ago, regardless of any partners that would have
been upset.
it is Microsoft's short-sightedness which allows ActiveX and
several other tools to make changes and operate in hidden ways
to do things they should not -- like changing the system or
installing viruses and sending them out.
Windows may have some options for security, but until those are
made the default operations, they mean little.
