Two problems with the claim...
First, McAfee stopped selling Virex, their AV software for the Mac OS.

What this means is that they've voted with their own wallet that there's not enough problems in OS X to be able to be worth their while to make money at it. Yes, Virex used to be bundled under .MAC, but its not listed there now.

Second, the data behind the "200% increase" cannot be discerned between if an actual increase occurred, or if the increase was simply better reporting of security flaws.

Are there more security problem reports today? Sure. But are there more bugs because coding quality has gone way down in the past 3 years, or is it because more people are now looking for them? McAfee's "mindshare" arguement has its upside too.
