I think the approach you are currently using is good, although you might start looking for an ISP that's willing to be honest with you*. Layered defenses always work better than point defenses, because no defense is ever 100%. Where I work we use Trend on our Exchange Server, and NAV on the desktop. We've adopted the strategy that not only should there be two layers, but there should be two vendors, because that way you also have two independant algorithms looking for problems.

*Their software missed it. Here at work when one of the variants came out, a message got past the Trend and was caught by NAV, and the message was received by one of our network admins. When he received the email in Outlook, NAV killed the virus when the attachment was written to the Temporary Internet folder. Looking back through the logs, it appears that the initial message came through BEFORE the Trend sigs were updated, but since the NAV sigs were updated by the time he came into work, NAV caught it. The same thing MIGHT have happened with you ISP. But they shouldn't lie about it.
