More hyperbole
thatxbxtchxnicoll: "Some of the recent patches did make my microsoft computer more secure... one of them actually required me to totally reformat and re-install."

If any of Microsoft's recent patches forced you to "totally reformat and re-install", perhaps you needed to reformat and re-install for some other reason.

I am in agreement that Windoze and many of Microsoft's patches have been released with inadequate pre-coding thought and inadequate pre-release testing. But I have NEVER been forced to reformat and re-install as a result of ANY Microsoft product.

I have, however, had to revert to a previous system backup after installing products and patches provided by other "software" vendors (including Linux "distributions").

The problem of poor design, deplorable coding, and indadequate testing is not unique to Microsoft. In fact, recent Firefox releases have (reportedly) created serious problems for some users. [I mention this only because Firefox is often presented in this forum as the answer to all Microsoft evils.]
