Because most of us DO run Windows?
I've got a Linux box AND a Mac, but there are some programs I have to use that are written only for Windows, so I can't get rid of Windows until those programs get written either for Linux or for the Mac--and some of them, like Endnotes and Quickbooks, may never be written for either Linux or the Mac.

Most people I know are in the same boat. Some run Linux; others run a Mac; a few like me run both-- but there are still programs we need to run, that aren't available on any OS except Windows.

So if you don't need to use Windows, count yourself lucky, but remember there are a lot of us who are just as bright as you who still are stuck with the bad choices too many software developers continue to make.
