Just assume & then check

I didn't know about whois (thanks), but I always assume it's a scam & then I log into the real site from another browser page & see if there are any messages for me there. Most banks, e-bay, medical/prescription insurance, etc have their own messaging systems on their own sites. But then I'm a pessimistic optimist (or an optimistic pessimist ? not sure which ? lol) & suspicious person by nature. My gut has never failed me, so I listen to it.
