...but how often do we hear about a virus trying to send itself out over port 80?

I'm surprised more don't. Two of my four kids have networked computers in their rooms and I'm very cautious about the websites they can get to and IM. The website issue is easy with Privoxy (at least until they're savvy enough to click on Tools>Internet Options and uncheck the proxy server [but even then I have more tricks up my sleeve. Any traffic coming from their subnet destined for port 80 is blocked if it doesn't go through the proxy port on the NAT firewall]).

I have been reading on how to block IM messages and it's damned hard. Those suckers will find any way they can to get out, including port 80.

Who wants to block port 80? It would be useful if a virus can communicate over it.

Just in case anyone thinks I'm a hard-head about it, there's an unrestricted PC in a common area the kids also can use.
