I agree, our existing system is Frankenstein...
It wasn't really designed for what it is doing: rather, it was cobbled-together from a variety of disparate parts in order to do it.

I agree with your point that we need to design something "better" which is actually suited to the purpose intended.

Unfortunately, this has proven much harder than we would have expected. We've been trying, but there are many differing opinions as to what the web *should* be doing -- and even more opinions, many mutually exclusive, as to *how* it should be done.

The progress is painfully slow, but it is occurring. Until then, though, we must continue to watch out for browser vulnerabilities and exploits of them.

While I don't consider any of the ones reported this time actually "critical", labeling the vulnerability is a small issue compared with reporting it. So long as everyone knows what vulnerabilities are out there, we can each assess for ourselves how critical we feel it is.

Just my $0.02, your opinions may vary...
