Respectfully, I disagree...
Yes he hacked it within 30 min. from within. A small point but
worth mentioning, do you recall reading he was given a user
account with login ID as was anyone wanting to try hacking that
system. Their provided user account and login ID, from the
owner of the computer, allowed them access into the computer.
He didn't break into the computer, it wasn't a "within 30 min.
from the outside" attack. They found a way to hack the Unix
system after being provided a user name and login ID. Big
difference wouldn't you agree?

Also, I reacall reading someone put a Mac on line willing to pay
money when someone broke in from the outside. The state of
Wisconsin comes to mind but I could be wrong (I'm sure
someone will set me straight on those details). To date nobody
has broken into that system. Remove the word Mac OS insert
Unix OS.

As for market share it isn't 1% truly it's much higher. The 1% you
quote is more like 10%+ however, they may have sold around 5%
compared to Windows PC; notice this is numbers sold. Some of
us Mac users have quite old systems running the latest Mac OS
quite well actually. I have a seven year old iBook that does well
on the web, e-mail and MS office 2004, iLife, Pages and Mac OS
10.4.6 (how many seven year old laptops can run XP PRO?). So
market share is substantially higher than the stated 1%.

As for Windows, people don't purchase Windows they purchase a
Dell, Gateway, IBM or the like that comes with Windows. The
marketing is for the hardware not the software. MS convinced
the hardware makers to install the MS OS. So again that doesn't
make Windows better. Because a Chevy has more market share
than than BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, Saab or Volvo does it make it
better? I think not.

You enjoy Windows so be it but don't belittle others when they
don't agree with your feelings. I used to manage a network with
thousands of Windows PCs and many Macs. Except perhaps for
passwords reset we never received a call from the Mac users.
Something to think about.
