if you're a business, purchase a baracuda spam firewall
recently I was approached by a company that I purchase Imail server through and they introduced me to the barracuda spam firewall. Took about 10 minutes to setup and get going with incoming email. After that, about a week or 2 into trying it out you can pretty much determine what it sees as spam and what it allows through, along with marking things it doesn't label as spam. As you do this, it configures itself according to your analysis of what is and is not spam, and works accordingly. As of right now, in a 3 week period, 75,000 emails have gone through the email server, over 60% were spam and marked correctly and blocked at the spam firewall. A few have gotten through, but nothing like they used to. It updates itself hourly and catches viruses at the same time. The model I am testing for a client is the 200 which is the cheapest of the bunch at 1600.00 and it's working like a charm. I don't really know what to recommend for home users but if you're a business that has numerous email addresses, I truely recommend this product. No I don't resell these things, but I could get you in touch with a rep if you're interested.

Hope this helps some of you looking to help limit the amount of spam your oganization receives.
