1. Make regular backups of your systems and data.

2. Keep your system up to date with the latest patches.

3. Set up a firewall wall, espcially if you have broadband.

4. Turn off unecessary background services and programs.

5. Laugh at your Windows friends who keep bitching about
viruses, yet said Macs were too expensive and Linux was too
hard.

No anti-virus scanners necessary.
