Guide to protecting yourself from attacks.
If you are a Windows user, and you do these five things, no known virus would have ever caused you a problem.

1. Make regular backups of your systems and data.

2. Keep your system up to date with the latest patches.

3. Do not open email atachments from unknown sources. Period. If you do not know how sent it and why, it ani't important. Do the trash it goes.

4. Use a virus scanner that is up to date. Scan ALL sources of input. wheather it is email (from a trusted source, remember, we delete email from strangers!) or commercial software.

5. Set up a firewall wall, espcially if you have broadband.

6. Turn off unecessary background services and programs.

These are steps that ANY user of ANY OS should follow, not just Windows, to maintain a clean system. They are easy to do for Windows, and they will not only keep you safe from attacks, but normal failures as well (if you do not backup your system, believe me, attacks are the least of your worries).

Practice safe computing!!!!!
