Valid concern
Some gov agencies make money every year selling content to commercial subscribers that then add value to the info and sell it to interested parties. Info like UCC files to banks, corp info, land title info, court opinions etc...

Every year we report to the legislature how much we made that year. Then when our budgets are approved they substract those earnings from our actual budget draw. In effect we are funding those moneies from our "earnings". Which is less tax payers funds out of the general treasury.

If the local gov did the same thing then these networks could afford a future tax cut for you and me.
