I Do
The telecoms say they aren't afraid of competing but I don't believe it. While I am no big fan of government involvment in all aspects of life, maybe this could be a good thing. Could some if the excess monies (if any after support costs) go back to the community in the form of improved services rather than into a CEO / CFO pocket? Could this provide high-speed access to people who would probably have to wait years for the telecoms to decide to implement it? My only concern in this would be that the support services may not be up to par for these "local" high-speed networks. (Not that they are stellar with the telecoms!) Who will support them if they decide to allow access to residents and how will that drive the cost of the service?
