Software protection outside of internet connection
Software such as Taceo provides a similar remote laptop security feature, but in order to access any content that is protected using Taceo (email, files) you need an internet connection. Data is protected as ECCs that need user verification for access. If a laptop is stolen the user deactivates the connection between the user alias and the computer the account is active on. Then, whether connected to the internet or not, an unauthorized user will never have access to protected content. Read more: http://www.essentialsecurity.com/pressroom/press_releases/pr_taceo16.htm
