Of course it's not a problem in linux
No one uses linux on the desktop. However, if everyone did run linux on the desktop, wouldn't there there would be a common package format enabled on most users machines, enabling viruses to take advantage of them?

No chmod needed for an RPM! wink


PS. Not many people use SELinux yet, so claming "SELinux would catch it" is silly.
