anger is understandable but
I reading your post I can understand why you are so angry. I would be too, but I would fear what they were doing with my private information more. One thing that I do know for sure is to never ever give out your my Social Insurance Number(canadian) I beleive it is Social Security Number in the US. Even if I am applying physically to a job and filling in an application form I wont provide them my number. What on earth do they need it for in the first place. I have't got the job yet, if and when I do I will provide it then, otherwise forget it. You said that after you applied and they said you were hired and never heard from them againit was then that you did the research on the company. This is where you made your mistake. Be safe and always search out the company before you give them anything. You found all that information after you were burned. Next time protect yourself and your information and research the company. In regards to SSN or SIN, you do not have to give it out to anyone. That is your number and unless you can fully trust the company your giving it to tell them you will provide it later. The same thing goes with buying or paying for anything online. Be smart, research the company or person. A person will only take advantage for you if you let them. Protect yourself and ask questions. It is your right and your responsabilty to do so!!!!!! Good luck with everything.
