Centralize, Compile, Act, and Enforce...
There are laws against false advertising and fraud, these should be enforced. I also believe stronger laws should be in place and it should be a Federal law -- the crimes committed via the internet cross borders. In combination with state laws, a Federal law would have greater impact.

In the meantime, let's truly centralize this effort to show that compiling proper information is feasible to fight those crimes and inform and protect all users from the actual dangers out there. (I am under the impression though, there is, or was started, a collective effort by Yahoo!, Microsoft and others to "whack" cybercrime. What is the progress on this effort?}

To assist in enforcing any law, there should be an "automatic way" to send phishing e-mails, fraudulent e-mails, e-mails soliciting participation in obtaining money by fraudulent means in foreign countries, and similar type e-mails to one central location from the e-mail base itself to be acted upon jointly and collectively, including government. Much gets delayed and lost by first going to the e-mail host or the e-mail provider of such an e-mail especially if it is a foreign country. This would enable as well, a more accurate picture of how many, what type, from where, from whom sent -- easier and quicker for tracking, easier for blocking those IPs from a centralized effort, easier and quicker to spot and track the pattern of how the crime doers "relay" their e-mails.

Along with this, I believe, a stronger, more focused effort is needed to pass along simple and direct information to users.

Cybercrimes hurt the economy as well as individuals.

Educate the users. More information needs to be passed along. There are still many people who are unaware of phishing type e-mails, fraudulent e-mails, and the crimes being committed by people soliciting for money, promising money via the internet. This information needs to be more direct and should be highlighted in a section for "important notes to users" or more directly and easier to find in the "Help" section. That "spam" button eliminating unwanted e-mails (including offensive e-mails) should be right upfront before a person opens an e-mail. Many people do not have the time, or know how, to search for more information.

Let's put things into action and really do something about the cybercrime and this includes having strong, enforceable laws against cybercrime and the people who commit them.
