Happened to me yesterday!
I thought I was getting pretty savvy about these things but got caught yesterday big time. I received an email that appeared to be a question from another eBayer. Since I have auctions running, I clicked on it to determine what auction it was and how to answer. When it asked me for my name and password, I figured it was a phisher and closed it--didn't matter! They downloaded something on my computer! WOW shut down my outgoing email and it took several runs with all the programs I could think of: AdAware, Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware, AVG and MicroTrend before I finally got it contained. And I still had to call WOW to get my email restored. My point? They're getting smarter--this one had none of the obvious mistakes that usually makes these things pretty obvious. And I didn't have to fill anything in--they got me just by following the link! And eBay does send you emails with this type of link in them--this was a total duplicate. My advice now is the one we already know--open another window and log in independently. I don't think any of the banks, stores, or eBay should EVER have links in their emails. If they didn't, then we would know it was a phisher! Convenience be damned--it took me hours to get my computer back--I solemnly SWEAR I will NEVER use a link from eBay again!
