ID cards.....

I as well know this thread is directly related to "merry old England", but regardless of the country........

ID Cards will not "solve" our problems. I kind of relate it to the gun control that some in this country want. You can bet that those that reeeeaaalllly want to do damage in one respect or another are going to have the damn things in order anyway. And personally, I completely believe that Sept. the 11th, 2001 is being used as a big excuse to rush to this sort of thing. It's something that has been played with, debated over and desired by many in our government for YEARS !!!! 9-11 provided the final excuse is all. Your SSN is a toy anymore, in spite of those that adhere to the idea that you do not have to reveal it to anyone if you'd "rather not". It's downright amazing what a record of your SSN is required for anymore to get various services, although I have seen some paperwork out there that have some fine print that does say along the lines of "if you choose NOT to include your SSN, then (this or that will suffice)". As far as ID theft goes, a desperate person could probably go through any dumpster coast to coast and find SOMETHING in the way of paperwork with an active SSN on it. I believe the "keeping tabs" tech out there has already gone way to far. And alot of it is merely accepted by a jaded society here. All of a sudden we're hollering about our rights as private citizens. Then all of a sudden people have to have cell phones that that have sound, video and other capabilities so that we can "spy" on one another if we like !!!! rofl... It's rediculous... Gotta buy a damn vehicle that has GPS installed so we can get our car door unlocked just in case we're out in the middle of the MoJave desert with the wife and kids and we get locked out !!! DOH !!! We need more cameras on every block ! Etc. etc. etc. (Pretty soon someone is going to invent a set of rear view mirrors for your household toilet !!!) They'll sell like hotcakes..... No, We don need no steenking ID cards..... No thank you..... And we don need no steenking alternative money system either....
