Congress wants to protect Corp interest not...
Consumers interests. If H.R. 3997: (Financial Data Protection Act of 2005) gets passed, (just passed by Congress Committee) "credit freezes" will me much harder to get - you would have to suffer a loss FIRST before you can freeze. The bill pre-empts states rights with a weaker standard? I thought conservatives were for "states rights"? - guess only if it doesn't "interfere" with corp. interests.

This bill is a TEXTBOOK CASE of the many bills being crafted by lobbiest with little regard for the average persons' concerns. Well we know who is really represented in our "representitive government". Weren't congressman bemoaning the ID theft problems when the cameras were rolling.

Well business can water down these bills - but in the end they will hurt themselves as consumers restrict the business they do because of ID Theft concerns....
