MS Deliberately Dragging It's Feet on Fixes
It's True MS want's to be seen to be quick to fix problems, but some not in the public eye are being deliberately ignored.

One long standing deliberate ongoing problem is the well known "Long Hangs" when moving or deleting large numbers of files in Win 98SE. It's caused by the introduction of IE6.1 which is recomended by MS as an upgrade for 98SE.

(The fix in this case is to replace two IE6.1 DLL's with the right IE5.5 version DLL's)

There are still a lot of users with 98SE because it's stable, faster than XP and more reliable. We've tested up to XP PRO SP2 against Win 98SE, Win 98SE is faster on <1G 32bit processors with 250MB ram, providing you remove the performance limiting code introduced by updates.

MS has consistantly ignored this issue for a long time, so in our view it's deliberate ploy to push XP sales.

We are also seeing some disabling updates / upgrades that remove or disable existing features and only enable MS propriety ones, for example Audio Encoders for Video.

MS is still the biggest time waster in terms of system admin and lost PC man time.

60% of our PC customer support activity is entirely due to MS problems that should not be there.
