Whyis MSIE used? That's easy.

Most of the hundreds of millions of users of MS Windows are not interested in computers. They just want to turn their machine on, and get on with what they have to do. So they use the browser that comes with their machine. Most users of computers have never heard of Firefox or Opera, and don't even want to know. That is the advantage MS gets from integrating IE in Windows. Similarly, for having to protect their machines against viruses, worms, and spyware. I run into these people every day when I have to clean up their computers.
There is a second group that have to use MSIE for certain sites. These are usually financial institutions. It is ironic that the financial institutions force people to use MSIE for their secure sites.
