Couple of things...
If you disable Active Scripting, it will break some functions of IE. You can get around that by putting sites where you need it to work into the IE trusted sites zone. Instructions here:

About IE7, as I understand it, the March release of IE7 beta is not vulnerable to the exploit, but the earlier release in January is vulnerable.
