If this is no longer being done by teenagers having fun, then who might benefit from it?

I can't help seeing a possible connection between this new DNS server problem and the AOL pay-to-send plan. Couldn't AOL use it as an argument for the necessity of using their plan? And couldn't they therefore have created it for that purpose?
