Someone hasn't been reading the IT news.
With reports of ID fraud comming almost daily, HP and Fidelity should have taken steps to secure the data and/or the laptop, or at least train those people using them about the ID theft situation out there.

HP should never let that data leave their offices, and Fidelity should have made those employees aware of the consequences of losing the laptop. Let's hope those Fidelity people got thier pink slips and HP's data is better secured.

I can understand Fidelity's lack of such knowledge, they're just bean counters who'd rather read the Wall Street Journal than C/ZDnet news. silly But HP, they make electronics including computers for IT and should have known better to let such data out of the office.
