- DRM failed?
-
"even Microsoft's last desperate attempt at lock-in ("DRM") will fail just as miserably"
Hmmm, I receive and send DRM-protected emails every day, and it works great. It stops any casual copying of information. (Even regular screen caps won't get it.)
Does it stop someone just retyping the information on their screen? No, but then we also can't stop them calling someone up on the phone and telling them inside trade secrets, and we'll never be able to stop that.
Anyway, DRM works great for those that actually use it.
And no, you're "Big Brother" arguments hold no water. MS has no more access to my information than you do. Frankly, I don't want anyone to have access to the information once it's been read, but I have yet to play with email expiration dates, as mail recipients may not be ready for that step yet.
I also have friends that listen to DRM-protected music every from Apple and other places. They have no problems either. (Me, I still buy the old-fashioned CD and rip it myself.) - Posted by: KTLA Posted on: 02/25/04 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
