If they were serious..
...as serious on spammers as they claim to be - in order to receive lots of press, there'd be a little less phishing going on.

There are lots of examples of Microsoft resources being used for spamming, phishing, and any other illicit online activity but Microsoft is all bark, but no bite.

Would you like a funny story on top of all of that? Piracy spamming. You get spam which offers software 80%-90% off of the retail price.

If you take the message as-is, the headers are intact - making it easier to track the senders down, and send the material to piracy@microsoft.com, guess what happens. It's bounced back to you because "it looks too much like spam." As Dr. Phil says, "Well, duh!". I sent them some plaintext asking for assistance and received a response of "we're working on it". I don't think they're going to determine which is and which is not spam when it's submitted to them.

I decided to do them a favor and sent the message ROT-13 but with material at the top describing what I'd done. Messages #1, #2, #3. Silence. So I sent another plaintext. Message #4. "We're sorry, we're unable to make use of the messages you've sent to us. You'll have to send them as they are sent to you."

Have the Summer Interns come back to work for Spring Break?
