So, instead of making the platform INHERNETLY SECURE they will just engulf it within a wall that is provided by MS and promisses security? How can one trust this as secure, since the MS code is where the vulnerabilities / malformations are. `Don't look at our 25 years of insecure / unstable s/w. Trust us that the latest wall s/w will protect you and it is going to be NOTHING like the trashworthy computing s/w we have developed so far (and for which you have paid 1000s of $$$)'

Does `hostile behavior' include the installation of s/w from competing vendors?

So can a regular (non-admin) user do whatever he wants with ms windows? No other platform allows common users to have privileged access to system resources, such as, system files, and network. Admininstrators do not share privileged passwords with anyone. This is commonse practice.


``"It just doesn?t meet the needs of anything you want secure," Gates said in explaining Microsoft's decision to offer RSA's SecureID as a better means of authenticating users within Windows.''

So how would they identify the INDIVIDUAL using the keyboard/viewing the moniter? Are they going to require iris scan or fingerprint readers? The basic premise is based on unrealistic assumptions.

Again, the effort is NOT in making the platform inherently secure. They just want to put an insulation mechanism between the system and the network.

Who can trust that MS knows how and wants to do the right thing with security when their s/w has been inherently compromisable even by very unsophisticated means in the last 20-25 years?

This is just another pompus declaration of war against the invisible enemies of MS, along the lines of 'Trashworthy' and Seamless Computing initiatives.
