Actually they ARE responding to their customers...
...the ones who are jumping ship and threatening a move to Linux.

In other words, now that there's a threat to their bottom line, MS is springing into action. Or at the very least, making it seem as though they are. Time will tell if they actually do improve things. In either case, though, this is further evidence of how having compitition helps improve product quality.
