that's why Wal-Mart defaults to the PIN screen
I noticed about a year ago Wal-Mart (and several other retailers) defaulted to the PIN screen when you swipe your card. You have to [Cancel] and then select credit in order to use it as a CC. I always do this and so does my wife, but the general public doesn't notice.

I even remember a sign at one local Wal-Mart that "Master Card debit cards will no longer be accepted as CCs". What a load of ..
