Merchants LOVE them
With a credit card, the merchant has to pay Visa/MC a 3% charge - with a debit card, it goes WAY down. Remember when gas stations charged 2 prices - one for cash and one for credit - that's why! Of course Visa/MC changed their EULA and made it against the rules to do that.

My bank gave me one in leu of a traditional ATM card - I guess Visa gave them a great deal . . . I ONLY use it at ATMs.
