I've never seen an upside to debit cards.
Why do some people prefer debit cards over credit cards? These people who lost money via fraud lost it directly from their bank accounts. Now they need to prove fraud and try to get the money back. If this had involved credit cards, the card holders would only have to dispute the item on their bills. If you've ever worked on the merchant side, you know the onus is on you to prove the transaction is legitimate, and this is a very high bar.

So why pay a special fee to be less secure? With my Credit Card I get better fraud protection, and even get credit towards future purchases (in my case Bass Pro shops). I pay the bill in full each month so I never pay any interest.
